Back in term 3 I wrote "It's been a busy old couple of weeks....." No kidding! On the 8th and 9th of August there was the amazing first annual #edchatnz conference - what a wicked weekend that was! (Shameless English teacher alliteration there) It was great actually connecting with those amazing people I see as inspiring professionals - and so many of them are so much younger and more energetic than I!
Ahhh gives a girl hope for the future. So after 2 days of #edchatnz f2fing it was back to work with a brain full of ideas and no time to implement anything...add level 3 marking and an assignment due at Mindlab into the mix and I was running to stand still.
#edchatnz conference blew up out of our Twitter PLN. Such an amazing resource. Those people are invaluable. I am recommending Twitter to everyone in the universe as the "BEST PD EVA!"
It was great to get to meet the people I had developed such fascinating online professional relationships with. Big ups to Danielle Myburgh @MsDtheTeacher who managed to pull this off! Love the idea of the 'lone nut' getting it sorted!
I was privileged to be able to catch Pam Hook @arti_choke talk about Solo Taxonomy. It's awesome. I just need implementation time - but I swear I will get to it!
Karen Melhuish-Spencer from Core Education - gave a stunning Keynote. Inspiring. Made me proud to be a teacher! In fact there were so many there who made me proud.
Took along a crew from school. I think there were 9 or 10 of us there over the 2 days and everyone got so much out of it! We all came back to work re-energised and raring to go -
AND feeling connected in a whole different way!
Magic. Cant wait till next year!
